WELCOME
Sunpower Farm, located in Spofford, New Hampshire, has been
practicing sustainable agriculture since 1997. We started in
sheep as a method for improving the quality of our fields, while
feeding our passion for wool. Over time, our rotational grazing
practices have turned brambles and goldenrod into lush pastures,
and as our flock has grown, so has our interest in producing
quality wool products. As our professional jobs have given way
to a more sustainable, farm-based lifestyle, we have dedicated
ourselves to living gently on the land, while helping others
to do the same through our traveling educational programs.
In 2000, we began construction of our off-the-grid solar
powered house. In an effort to 'build green', the lumber for
our house was cut and milled on site, using mostly hemlock
trees, which are normal of little or no commercial value due
to the unusual and often inconsistent qualities of hemlock.
Our greenhouse and passive solar design allows us to heat
our home with less than 2 cords of wood per year, and our
growing gardens allow us to life a relatively self-sufficient
lifestyle. Hence the name, Sunpower Farm.
